As MMA fans and Pundits alike continue to argue over the proper way to Judge Mixed Martial Arts, one other obvious problem is being almost ignored. Bad Officiating. If ever there was a fight that went on long after it should have been over, it was Curran vs Warren at Bellator 60. I take my hat off to Joe Warren for being able to handle that amount of damage without going out, but he was clearly finished about 20 blows before the official stepped in.

Fan Mode: Rousey vs Tate and the Arnold Classic
“Fan Mode” is a new theme of article I am going to start working on when I go to certain events. This one is coming out a little late because I haven’t been exactly sure how I wanted it to go, and honestly I’m still not. The idea is to introduce people to what they would experience if they had gone to an event instead of watching it at home. So, through “Fan Mode” everyone will get a little bit of the full experience of attending a major event live. This edition will take you on a tour of last weeks Strikeforce: Rousey vs Tate and The Arnold Classic Sports Festival.
The first leg of our journey started on Saturday morning at the Arnold’s. If you haven’t ever heard of this sports festival, you should know that there are literally hundreds of sporting competitions taking place over the course of the weekend; everything from MMA to Fencing, and Gymnastics to Table Tennis can be found here, and the best part is, registration is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Activities usually start on Thursday and conclude Sunday evening. With all these great things going on, I have to say, I didn’t watch any of them. What we went for is the Fitness Expo, and for a Mixed Martial Arts fan, that is exactly where you want to be. The Arnold Fitness EXPO is the largest is the largest of its kind in the country and features around 700 booths of the latest in sports equipment, apparel and nutrition. If you’re into working out, you can find almost every major, and a lot of minor, sports supplement companies there, with prices ranging anywhere from 15% to around 40% off full retail prices on anything you can think of. Another great thing about going here is that you really don’t need to buy anything. If you feel like pushing your way through the crowd for long enough to make a couple trips around the convention center, you can pick up enough free supplements to last for months. That well makes up for the $15 admission charge.

Tonight’s “Late Night MMA” Line-up
TheDailyPunch Rumor Rundown
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has recently come out saying that he will be retiring following his next bout in the UFC. For anyone that’s paid attention, Jackson has been teasing us with retirement for years and it has yet to come to. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it this time either. Rampage has always been on again off again with his attitude. Just a week ago he was talking about planning to fight for a long time to come. I’d expect to see him around for at least a few more.
- Fedor has recently revealed intentions to come to the States in pursuit of bigger fights. Some have taken is comments and construed them to make it sound as though he was talking about coming to the UFC. In fact, the name UFC, Ultimate Fighting Championship or anything of the sort never came out of Fedor’s mouth. The reality of the situation is, Fedor and his management have had numerous failed negotiations with the UFC and they have always been unwilling to cave in on their ridiculous demands. It is pretty likely that we never see “The Last Emperor” inside the octagon.
- In a recent interview, Nate Diaz was asked to comment on his brothers recent decision to retire from the sport. He responded, saying he believes his brother will stay retired, at least for now. triathlon season is coming up and you can be sure Nick is keeping himself busy doing something he actually seems to enjoy. Like Rampage, Diaz doesn’t take losses very well, he never has, especially when he is beaten by someone who chooses to fight “smarter” than he does. I highly doubt we have seen the last of the 209′er in the Octagon. While I’m sure he does have enough money to last him several years, I doubt that his days in Strikeforce made him enough money to last a lifetime. He’ll be back, and maybe then he will make the decision to accept his spot stuck in the upper-middle class of the division, or change his style and start fighting with better game plans.
The Rousey Wrap Up
Well, “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey is 5-0 now with 5 first round armbars. She is now officially giving Rousimar Palhares some serious competition as the most limb-mangling maniac in MMA. Miesha Tate reports that she does not have any broken bones following her loss Saturday night, but she would not divulge any further information regarding her left arm. I am certainly no medical professional, but it seems pretty obvious that her elbow was dislocated and maybe her shoulder as well. With a dislocation as severe as this appeared to be, there is almost definitely some soft tissue damage. I wish Miesha the best in what is sure to be a long and difficult recovery.

Strikeforce: Rousey vs Tate Preview
Strikeforce: Rousey vs Tate kicks off Saturday night from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. The event will be the second put on by Strikeforce to coincide with the Arnold’s Sports Festival which comes to downtown Columbus annually on the first week of March. It is a stacked show featuring former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson taking on K.J. Noons, former UFC standouts Paul Daley and Scott Smith and is headlined by questionably the biggest fight in WMMA history. I’m pressed for time today so let’s just jump right in with the picks.

Twit Picker: Rousey vs Tate
With this weekends Strikeforce Main Event between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate being so well hyped, I decided to take to the world of Twitter to see who people were thinking would come out on top. Like these two women, the rest of my tweeting friends seemed to be split about their thoughts on the bout. Who do you think will win?
